Actress Anne Hathaway, who plays the character 'Catwoman' in
Warners' upcoming Christopher Nolan-directed 'Batman' feature "The Dark Knight Rises", adored the look of her slinky, feline
character.
"I love the costume because everything has a purpose," Hathaway
said. "Nothing is in place for fantasy's sake, and that's the case with everything in Christopher Nolan's 'Gotham City'."
Hathaway said she drew inspiration from actress Hedy Lamarr
to help shape her performance, as "...she would take these long, deep, languid breaths and exhale slowly. There's a shot of
her in 'Ecstasy' exhaling a cigarette and I took probably five breaths during her one exhale. So I started working on my breathing
a lot."
Hathaway has no misgivings about playing a 'villain', conjuring
up the ghostly image of actor Heath Ledger from Nolan's "The Dark Knight".
"You look at Heath's performance as the 'Joker', there was a
lot of madness there but there was also a grace and he had a code there. There's a lot of belief and codes of behavior in
Gotham and my character has one, too."Hathaway insists her take on the character that has been played
by several actors before her, will be sexy and unique."A lot of the way she moves and interacts with people is informed by her worldview. Chris has given us all such complex,
defined, sophisticated worldviews that it's just a matter of doing your homework and getting underneath the character's skin."
'Catwoman' was created by writer Bill Finger and illustrator Bob Kane,
partially inspired by Kane's second cousin by marriage, Ruth Steel. The original and most widely known Catwoman, 'Selina Kyle', debuted in DC Comics "Batman #1 (Spring 1940) as 'The
Cat'.
She was a beautiful whip-carrying burglar with a taste
for high-stake thefts.
Catwoman was then portrayed in the 1966 "Batman" TV series
by actresses Julie Newmar, Lee Meriwether and Eartha Kitt.
Michelle Pfeiffer portrayed Selina Kyle in 1992's "Batman Returns", followed by Halle Berry in
the 2004 stand-alone "Catwoman" feature.
Catwoman is skilled in hand-to-hand combat, with razor-sharp
"Wolverine"-like retractable claws, also wielding an assortment of bullwhips and cat o' nine tails.
Catwoman is also one of Batman's most enduring love interests,

Warner Home Video reports that its next round of 'DC Universe'
animated movies for 2012 will include "Justice League: Doom", adapting DC Comics' "Tower of Babel", "Superman vs. the Elite",
adapting the DC Comics' story and "Batman: The Dark Knight Returns", a two-part feature, based on the DC Comics' stories written
by Frank Miller.
"Tower of Babel", a "Justice League" story arc written by Mark Waid,
deals with Batman's perceived betrayal to the superhuman community by keeping records concerning the strengths and weaknesses
of his allies in the 'JLA', including plans to eliminate his allies in a fight.
But his files are stolen
by 'Ra's al Ghul', who uses them to defeat the Justice League through a coordinated attack.
'Batman' is the only League member not attacked, as 'Martian Manhunter' bursts into flame upon exposure to air, 'Aquaman'
is rendered hydrophobic by an altered form of the 'fear' toxin used by 'Scarecrow' and 'Plastic Man' is frozen solid, then
shattered by a hammer by one of Ra's al Ghul's henchmen.
'Green Lantern' is rendered blind by his own power ring from a post-hypnotic
suggestion introduced while he was asleep, 'Wonder Woman' is trapped in a virtual reality battle against an opponent who is
her equal, a specially designed 'vibra-bullet' strikes 'Flash' in the back of the neck, causing him to experience seizures
at light speed, and the skin of 'Superman' becomes transparent after exposure to' red kryptonite'.
"Superman vs. the Elite", written by Joe Kelly featured 'The Elite'
super-powered anti-heroes.
They appeared in a number of stories as antagonists, before some
of them merged with members of the Justice League, to form 'Justice League Elite'.
Elite team members include 'Manchester
Black', the team's late first leader, 'Vera Black', his sister and the second leader, 'Coldcast', capable of manipulating
electromagnetism, 'Menagerie I', who was lobotomized and placed in a coma and 'Menagerie II', currently in a 'metahuman' prison
facility for the insane.
"Batman: The Dark Knight Returns", the four-issue comic book
limited series written and illustrated by Frank Miller (Sin City") , was originally published by DC Comics under the title
"Batman: The Dark Knight" in 1986.
Set in a dystopian near-future version of 'Gotham City', "The
Dark Knight Returns" follows a 55-year old 'Batman' who comes out of retirement to fight crime, only to face opposition from
the Gotham City police force and the US government.
Virtually all superheroes, with the exception of Superman, have
been forced into retirement or otherwise driven away by a distrusting populace.
'Bruce Wayne' (Batman) has voluntarily
retired from crime fighting following the death of 'Jason Todd' (the second 'Robin'). In the absence of superheroes, criminals run amok, and a gang called the 'Mutants' terrorize the
city.

Warner Bros. has confirmed that actress Anne Hathaway will star
as the character 'Selina Kyle', aka 'Catwoman' in director Christopher Nolan's third "Batman" feature "The Dark Knight Rises".
"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with
Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story," said Nolan.
This is good news for fans, as the only prominent females that have appeared in Nolan's previous
"Batman" films have been Katie Holmes in "Batman Begins" and Maggie Gyllenhaal in "The Dark Knight", with neither performance creating any kind of sexy spark with audiences.
'Catwoman' was created by writer Bill Finger and illustrator Bob Kane, partially inspired by Kane's second cousin by
marriage, Ruth Steel.
The original and most widely known Catwoman, 'Selina Kyle', debuted in DC Comics
"Batman #1 (Spring 1940) as 'The Cat', a beautiful whip-carrying burglar with a taste for high-stake thefts.
Catwoman was portrayed in the 1966 "Batman" TV series
by actresses Julie Newmar, Lee Meriwether and Eartha Kitt.
In film, Michelle Pfeiffer portrayed the definitive version of Selina in 1992's "Batman Returns", followed by Halle
Berry in a stand-alone "Catwoman" feature in 2004.
Catwoman is skilled in hand-to-hand combat, with razor-sharp "Wolverine"-like

it is found that Strange hates the Batman because he loves what the Batman does, becoming 'a creature of the night'.
"Strange deduces the Batman's identity and plays psychologically with him by
placing life-like mannequins of his parents in 'Wayne Manor' with audio tapes. He then hypnotizes Sgt. Cort into donning a

Director Christopher Nolan, currently auditioning actresses for
his third Warners "Batman" feature, has confirmed that the title of the upcoming film will be "The Dark Knight Rises".
February 2010,
Nolan said he had 'cracked' the story of a sequel to "The Dark Knight" with his brother Jonathan Nolan and David S. Goyer
working on the screenplay.
March 2010, Nolan confirmed that "The Dark Knight Rises" will be
his last 'Batman' movie.
"Without getting into specifics, the key thing that makes the
third film a great possibility for us is that we want to finish our story. And in viewing it as the finishing of a story rather
than infinitely blowing up the balloon and expanding the story . . . I’m very excited about the end of the film, the
conclusion, and what we’ve done with the characters.
"My
brother has come up with some pretty exciting stuff. Unlike the comics, these things don’t go on forever in film and
viewing it as a story with an end is useful. Viewing it as an ending, that sets you very much on the right track about the
appropriate conclusion and the essence of what tale we’re telling. And it hearkens back to that priority of trying to
find the reality in these fantastic stories. That’s what we do."
"The
Dark Knight Rises" will prep for an April 2011 production start.
So far,
lead actor Christan Bale will return as 'Batman", with actor Tom Hardy ("Inception") also cast in an unnamed role.

"Rocksteady has taken Batman to a new level in the video game space and we are committed to delivering a sequel the fans will
love."
"Batman: Arkham City" features a battered 'Joker (Mark Hamill) ',
recovering from wounds received in the first game, then nursed back to health by 'Harley Quinn' (Arlene Sorkin), as 'Gotham
City' descends into chaos.
Other
DC Comics villains expected to appear in the game include 'Mr. Freeze', 'Talia al Ghul', 'Two-Face', the 'Riddler' and 'Catwoman'.
"We are honored to create the next chapter in this compelling
story and promise to deliver another game worthy of the 'Dark Knight'", said Sefton Hill, Game Director, Rocksteady Studios.
Written by veteran "Batman" comic book writer Paul Dini, "Arkham Asylum" follows 'The Joker', Batman's archenemy, who instigates
an elaborate plot from within 'Arkham Asylum' where many of Batman's other villains have been incarcerated.
Batman investigates and learns that the
Joker is trying to create an army of creatures to threaten 'Gotham City'.
The
game's main characters are voiced by actors from DC's animated features including Kevin Conroy as Batman, Hamill as Joker
and Sorkin as Harley Quinn. The game is played as a third-person perspective action-adventure game with a primary
focus on Batman's combat abilities, stealth and detective skills, using an arsenal of gadgets that can be used in both combat
and exploration.

According to reports, Warners' upcoming "Batman 3", to be directed
by Christopher Nolan ("The Dark Knight") will feature the costumed super-villain, 'The Riddler'.
The character of 'Edward Nigma' aka 'The Riddler' was created by Bill
Finger and Dick Sprang, debuting in DC's "Detective Comics" #140 (1948).
In live action, the character was portrayed by actors Frank Gorshin,
(nominated for an Emmy for his performance) and John Astin, in the 1960's "Batman" TV series.
Jim Carrey played the character in the 1995 feature
"Batman Forever".
In animation, The Riddler has been portrayed by actors Michael
Bell, John Glover and Robert Englund.
The Riddler is obsessed with riddles, puzzles, and word games, delighting
in forewarning both 'Batman' and the police of upcoming capers by sending them flamboyant and complex clues.
The
character is often depicted as wearing a domino mask either with a green suit and bowler hat or green unitard. A black or
purple question mark serves as his visual motif.
Unlike the rest of Batman's rogues gallery, the Riddler
is not a psychopathic murderer like 'The Joker', but a 'malignant narcissist', perpetrating crimes to flaunt his intellectual
superiority.
Subsequently, Batman's direct conflicts with the Riddler are typically more cerebral than physical and usually
involve defeating him non-violently.
In the character's origin story, after a teacher announces that a
contest will be held over who can solve a puzzle the fastest, young Edward Nigma sets his sights on winning, by creeping into
the school one night, taking the puzzle out of the teacher's desk and practicing it until he is able to solve it in under
a minute. As predicted, he wins the contest and is given a book about riddles as a prize.
His cheating rewarded, Edward soon embraces puzzles of all kinds,
becoming a carnival employee who cheats customers out of their money with bizarre mindgames.
Finding himself longing for greater challenges and thrills,
Edward dons the guise of the Riddler to challenge Batman, who he believes could be a worthy adversary.
The Riddler possesses a deductive ability that rivals
the investigative skills of the 'Caped Crusader', but no superhuman abilities, other than being a criminal strategist, employing
weaponry that includes a 'question mark cane', housing a variety of technological devices/weaponry.

Fanboys are wondering if Warners and director Christopher Nolan
will include the character of 'Catwoman' in "Batman 3", played by actress Megan Fox ("Jonah Hex").
To date, the only prominent females that have appeared in Nolan's
2 "Batman" films have been Katie Holmes in "Batman Begins" and Maggie Gyllenhaal in "The Dark Knight", with neither performance creating any kind of sexy spark with audiences.
Is Megan Fox just too good-looking for Nolan to cast in his rogues
gallery of comic book freaks transferred to the big screen ?
Actress Michelle Pfeiffer played the beautiful and vicious 'Selina
Kyle' in director Tim Burton's 1992 "Batman" feature"Batman Returns".
The
dowdy, efficient secretary for corrupt tycoon 'Max Shreck', Kyle survives being pushed out of an office window, when she is
mysteriously resuscitated by a pack of alley-cats, to become the vengeful villainess 'Catwoman'.
The original Selina Kyle was created by Bill Finger and
Bob Kane, debuting in the DC comic book "Batman" #1 (Spring 1940), in which the character is referred to as 'The Cat'.
As an adversary of 'Batman', Kyle was a whip-carrying
burglar with a taste for high-stake thefts.
Since the 1990s, "Catwoman" has been featured in several DC Comics series that cast her as an antihero rather than a supervillain.
Catwoman is also one of Batman's most enduring
love interests, depicted as his one 'true love'.
