Sneak Peek a new teaser trailer supporting the upcoming Marvel Studios superhero comic book adaptation, "The Avengers", based on the Marvel Comics characters.

The big budget feature, to be distributed by Walt Disney Pictures in 2012, is based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name, created in the 1960's by writer Stan Lee and illustrator Jack Kirby.

In the movie, 'Nick Fury', director of the peacekeeping organization 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' recruits 'Iron Man', 'Hulk', 'Thor' and 'Captain America' to save the world from destruction.

Written and directed by Joss Whedon ("Buffy The Vampire Slayer") , "The Avengers" stars Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo and Cobie Smulders.

"There's a 'thunder god'," said Whedon, "there's a green 'ID' giant rage monster, there's 'Captain America' from the 1940s and there's 'Tony Stark' (aka 'Iron Man') who definitely doesn't get along with anybody.

"Ultimately these people don't belong together and the whole movie is about finding yourself from community.

"And finding that you not only belong together but you need each other, very much.

"Obviously this will be expressed through 'punching'.. .but it will be the heart of the film."

As part of the 'Marvel Cinematic Universe', "The Avengers" crosses over several Marvel superhero films including "Iron Man" (2008), "The Incredible Hulk' (2008), "Iron Man 2" (2010), "Thor' (2011) and "Captain America: The First Avenger" (2011) .

"...the two-disc Blu-ray/DVD combo pack includes a high definition presentation of the film, plus a standard definition presentation with a digital copy.

"'Captain America: The First Avenger' also boasts over an hour of behind-the-scenes bonus material.

"Included is an original Marvel short film, an 'exclusive sneak peek' into the ultimate Super Hero team, Marvel's 'The Avengers', six featurettes that go behind-the-scenes of the filmmaking process, deleted scenes and a whole lot more..."

The Avengers is scheduled to be released in North America, May 4, 2012.

According to reports the 'cosmic' super-powered villain 'Thanos' will be the main heavy in Marvel Studios, currently shooting, live-action comic book adaptation "The Avengers", based on the Marvel Comics series. "The Avengers" will be distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, as part of the 'Marvel Cinematic Universe' which crosses over several Marvel superhero films including "Iron Man" (2008), "The Incredible Hulk" (2008), "Iron Man 2" (2010), "Thor" (2011) and "Captain America: The First Avenger" (2011).
The feature is written/directed by Joss Whedon (creator of "Buffy The Vampire Slayer"), starring actors Robert Downey, Jr., as 'Iron Man', Mark Ruffalo as 'Hulk', Chris Hemsworth as 'Thor' and Chris Evans as 'Captain America'. Thanos first appeared in Marvel Comics' "Iron Man" #55 (Feb. 1973), created by writer-artist Jim Starlin. The character has since appeared in over 30 years of Marvel Comics continuity as well as in a dedicated, self-titled series. Thanos was born on Titan, a moon of the planet Saturn, to 'Mentor' and 'Sui-San'. Due to a genetic quirk, Thanos is born with the 'Deviant' gene and as such resembles the 'Deviants' — the cousin race of the 'Eternals' — more than his own people. Maturing to adulthood, and via the use of bionics and mysticism, Thanos augments his abilities to become the most powerful of the Titanian-born Eternals, and is often referred to as the 'Mad Titan'. Bitter at being an outsider, Thanos becomes fascinated with nihilism and begins a nuclear bombardment of Titan that kills millions, before traveling to Earth. Through a combination of his mutant Eternal heritage, bionic amplification and mysticism, Thanos is capable of superhuman strength, stamina and durability, also able to absorb and project vast quantities of cosmic energy, enough to obliterate planets. Thanos is also virtually ageless and immortal, with no need for food, drink, or oxygen and capable of telekinesis, telepathy and matter manipulation. "The Avengers" is scheduled to be released May 4, 2012, in 3D. Click the images to enlarge...

New reports indicate that the upcoming feature "The Avengers", prepping to start in New Mexico in 2011, will feature Marvel Comics villains 'The Skrulls' and 'The Kree'.

Debuting in Marvel Comics' "Fantastic Four" #2 (January 1962), the 'Skrulls', were created by writer Stan Lee and illustrator Jack Kirby.

Skrulls originate from the planet 'Skrullos', in the 'Drox System' of the 'Andromeda Galaxy', originally a mercantile civilization, primarily interested in free trade and the sharing of technology.

Green-skinned reptilian humanoids with large pointed ears, red/green eyes and corrugated chins, Skrulls are noted for their genetic, molecular instability, due to 'Celestial' experimentation that produced Skrull 'Deviants'.

Know for their physical malleability and the ability to shapeshift to any size and shape at will, Skrulls can take on the appearance of other beings and objects.

The 'Kree', aka the 'Ruul' are a scientifically, technologically advanced militaristic alien race, native to the planet 'Hala' in the 'Large Magellanic Cloud'.

They debuted in "Fantastic Four #65" (August 1967), also created by Lee and Kirby.

The largest Skrull-related conflict involving Earth has been the 'Kree-Skrull War', after 'Ronan' wrested control of the 'Kree Empire' from the 'Supreme Intelligence', leading to an attack on the Skrulls, subsequently involving 'The Avengers' superhero team.
